Fifth grade parents: District 15’s Middle School Fair will be held on Monday October 28thfrom 5pm – 7:30pm at The Park Slope Educational Complex at MS 88. This is a good opportunity to find out about all the middle school offerings in District 15.
The community’s work to reduce the number of parked cars in our “No Standing” zone in front of the school building has been producing results. We see far fewer vehicles parked illegally in front of the building. As a reminder, “No Standing” signs apply to unloading and loading people only, not merchandise.
A community meeting to continue safety discussions about the newly installed bike lane on 4thAvenue is set for Tuesday 10/22 at 9:30am at the 72nd Precinct. All are welcome!
The PTA is planning another NYC Marathon viewing party and bake sale on Sunday November 3rd. Come on out to cheer on the runners and take a moment to enjoy a delicious pastry. Proceeds from the sale will go to support our 5thgrade graduation activities.
Bingo night will be held on Friday November 15th featuring a “holidays around the world” theme. Any donations of food or time would be appreciated. Contact the PTA at PS172parents@gmail.comif you are able to donate either.
PS 172 is planning a Flea Market for Saturday November 23rd. The market will be held in our auditorium and tables will be available to vendors for a small fee. Contact the PTA for more details at PS172parents@gmail.com.
Mrs. Hendrickson and I would like to extend our thanks to everyone at PS 172. Mrs. Hendrickson has collected 100% of our school lunch applications. These applications help determine our eligibility for important funding for our school. Thank you for all your support!
Just a reminder: Please update your child’s blue emergency card with the names and phone numbers of any person that is able to pick your child up at school in your absence. Students cannot be dismissed to anyone that does not appear on the card. Over the phone authorizations cannot be honored.
Next Friday 10/25 will mark our second “Parents as Learning Partners” event. Please mark the day in your calendar. I hope you will join us for the first period of the instructional day which begins at 8:40am and ends at 9:30.
Friday 10/25 will also be a “school spirit” day. Celebrate PS 172 by wearing your grade level color. (Pre-k wears yellow, Kindergarten – light blue, grade 1 – purple, grade 2 – orange, grade 3 – green, grade 4 – red and grade 5 – dark blue.
Halloween is on its way and this year we plan to hold our school’s second annual costume parade (weather permitting). A notice with additional details was sent home last week. If you did not receive the notice, please contact your child’s teacher or call the school at 718-965-4200
Enrichment clubs are due to begin the week of October 28th. Please make sure you have signed and returned your permission slip(s). An Enrichment club orientation for parents will be held on Monday October 21st. More info to follow…
