Beginning in early December, families of future kindergarten students will begin the process of kindergarten registration. Parents and/or guardians can submit applications online, over the phone, or in person at a Family Welcome Center. More information will follow. ****Please note, students currently enrolled in a PS 172 Pre-k program must submit a kindergarten application. Pre-K students are not automatically registered for kindergarten.
To date, only 23% of our fifth graders have submitted their middle school applications. The deadline to submit middle school applications is December 2, 2019. Make sure to hit the SUBMIT button for the application to be successfully entered into the system. To complete your application, go to MySchools.nycand use the login information mailed to families in your middle school “welcome letter”. If you cannot find your login information, please contact Mrs. Garcia by calling the school at 718-965-4200.
Thank to all the parents and family members that joined us for today’s Parents as Learning Partners event. Don’t forget to check out class dojo to see pictures from the day.
GYMNASIUM UPDATE: Construction to install new fencing around the play yard has begun. The construction trailer is almost ready to be installed. Next up: the current play yard surface will be removed so that excavation for our new gymnasium can begin on December 2, 2019. The playground will still be available to students but the play yard will be closed. On days when significant noise and dust producing work is being done, students will not be using the playground. Our new “recess” plans will be sent home with your child next week. Our new “recess” will begin after the Thanksgiving break. We are hopeful that our new gymnasium will be completed in December of 2020. As always, I will keep you posted on any updates or changes to this timeline.
If you have not yet had the opportunity to meet with your child’s teacher for the first Parent Teacher Conference of the year, please expect your child’s teacher to contact you to schedule a convenient time to meet. Feel free to call the school if you would like to set up your own appointment.
The 5thgrade graduation committee has organized a school-wide raffle to help raise funds for graduation expenses.
