It seems that December has come and gone in the blink of an eye. Winter recess officially begins on December 24thand extends through January 2nd. I hope you all have a joyous holiday season with plenty of time to relax and enjoy time with family and friends. Safe travels and warm tidings to each and every one of you! I look forward to seeing you in the new year.
Congratulations to our kindergarten students! They did a great job teaching their parents about winter holidays during a special “holiday” show on Thursday.
Get ready for PS 172’s first Book Swap!! Our goal is to get great books in children’s hands. We realize, many families have libraries filled with books that have already been read and may now be collecting dust. It is time to dust off those “like new” or “gently worn” books and donate them to the PS 172 book swap. For every book a child donates, they will receive a ticket entitling them to choose a different “like new book” from among the other donations. More specific information will follow when we return to school in January. Please do not send any books to school until a specific donation date has been set.
This month, classroom teachers competed in a classroom door decoration competition to represent the winter holidays. The PTA formed a judging committee and the winners were announced on Monday afternoon. The winners are as follows: Pre-k 106, K-102, 1-204, 2-203, 3-308, 4-301 & 5-307. Congratulations to the winners and to every class that participated. The hallways looked great!
Just a reminder… If you would like to donate a gift to your child’s classroom, go to www.PS172.organd click on the “Academics” tab to find the wish list page. Links will be active for the remainder of the school year.
School is closed on Monday January 21stin remembrance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Enrichment cycle 1 clubs end in January – each club will be sending information about end dates separately. Information about Cycle 2 clubs will be forthcoming.
