Kindergarten registration will begin soon. I will keep you posted when I have an exact date. Parents and/or guardians will be able to submit applications online, over the phone, or in person at a Family Welcome Center. Parents are invited to check out the NYC DOE kindergarten page for more information. Go to https://www.schools.nyc.gov/enrollment/enroll-grade-by-grade/kindergarten****Please note, students currently enrolled in a PS 172 Pre-k program must submit a kindergarten application. Pre-K students are not automatically registered for kindergarten.

The 5th grade graduation committee has organized a school-wide raffle to help raise money for the PTA. The PTA raises money to alleviate graduation expenses for families. While your child may not be a PS 172 “senior” at this time, they will be in the near future. Please support our PTA and consider buying / selling raffle tickets. Raffle winners will take home some great prizes including a Nintendo Switch, a brand new laptop, a flat screen television, a Cricut Explore and a mystery prize. The student that sells the most raffle tickets will take home a $100 Amazon gift card. Each ticket costs $5 and a book of 5 tickets cost $20. If you are interested in purchasing (or selling) tickets contact the PTA at PS172parents@gmail.comor come to the main office. Raffle winners will be announced on Saturday December 14th at the breakfast with Santa PTA event. You do not need to be present to win. All winners will be contacted by phone.
The new recess plan was enacted this week. We began our auditorium games, have opened up the playground when the weather was cooperating and made the art room available to our upper grade students. Today, students had their “movie” recess and next week, we hope to begin our cafeteria game time. If any parent would like to donate a DVD they think their child and other school children will appreciate on movie day, please send in those donation to the main office.
