A few months ago, I let everyone know that PS 172 had been honored by the ESEA Network. The Network is a national association, with representatives from all 50 states, tasked with, among other things, making sure that all children – especially students living in economically disadvantaged conditions, have the opportunity to receive a high quality education. PS 172 was recognized for “closing the achievement gap” and has a page featured on their website detailing some of the work we do at the school. If you would like to take a look at the page, please go to https://www.eseanetwork.org/ds/schools/ps-172-beacon-school-of-excellence.
State testing is right around the corner. Students in grades 3-5 will be administered the NYS ELA exam on Tuesday April 2nd and Wednesday April 3rd. A letter was sent home with students in grades 3-5 on Thursday with information about the test. If you did not receive the letter, contact your child’s teacher or the main office (718)965-4200. We will be happy to send home an additional copy.
There is a little time left to complete your parent survey. Please see Mrs. Hendrickson for any assistance you may need. When you send in your survey (bring the sealed envelope to school or bring in confirmation of online submittal) your child will be entered into a raffle to win a new iPod touch.
