Happy May everyone! I hope everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable spring break.
Enrichment clubs are coming to an end for the 2018-2019 school year. Most clubs will end in early May. Check with your child’s teacher or call the main office to determine the final day of your child’s specific program.
Middle School results are in! Parents should have logged on to https://www.myschools.nyc/en/to check on their child’s middle school acceptance. If you have not been able to access the information through the website, please call our guidance counselor, Mrs. Garcia for more information.
Two weeks ago, a notice went home to families that celebrate Ramadan. If you have not done so already, please read the letter, respond to the questions, and return your responses to school. Parent feedback will help us make plans to support our students appropriately during lunchtime. If you did not receive the notice, kindly contact the main office at (718)965-4200. We will be happy to send you an additional copy.
NYS Math tests were administered in grades 3-5 this week. All of our students worked very hard! Make up testing for students that were late or absent will be completed next week. The only remaining tests to be given this school year is the 4th grade science exam and exams determining the proficiency of our English language learners.
PS 172 is working with several different arts partners to enrich our students work in theater, dance and culture. Grade 1 will be working with TheaterMoves for a 5-week residency that will encourage students to develop a deeper understanding of language through writing for the stage. Grade 3 will work with Asase Yaa Cultural Arts Foundation to explore West African dance and culture. Grades 4 and 5 will be working with Inside Broadway to write and perform their own “off Broadway” show.
A letter detailing a new “morning snack” initiative will be sent home to families early next week. Please look for the letter in your child’s book bag and/or on ClassDojo.
