Congratulations to the newest inductees into the PS 172 honor society. On Thursday evening, PS 172 held its annual Arista/ Archon induction ceremony. Congratulations to the students who worked so hard to achieve that distinction. We are very proud of your accomplishments.
This week, PS 172 first grader Joandy Camacho-Duran showcased his artwork at the Metropolitan Museum of Art as part of the PS Art exhibition. If you have the opportunity to visit the exhibit this summer, I encourage you to do so. The exhibit will be open through October of 2019.
Today, our 4th and 5th grade students in partnership with Inside Broadway will debut their musical production of Family Trees: An Immigrant Adventure in America. I had the opportunity to watch the rehearsal for the show and the students were exceptional. Congratulations!
A reminder from our crossing guards: All parents and students must cross the street using the crosswalks on the corners of 29th and 30th streets and Fourth avenue. Please do not try to cross the street between parked cars or in the middle of the block. This creates a terrible safety hazard and sets a poor example for our youngest students.
The school leadership team will meet on Tuesday June 18th at 5pm to work on PS 172’s Comprehensive Educational Plan.
The last day of the After 3 program will be Thursday June 20th. From this date on, all students will be dismissed at 3:00
The final day of school is Wednesday June 26th. All students will be dismissed at 12:00 on that day. Report cards will be distributed and include future class information.
Due to inclement weather, our kindergarten, first and second grade students missed their annual field days this week. We have arranged for each grade level to “make-up” some of their field day activities right here in the PS 172 schoolyard. Look for a message from your child’s teacher regarding a new date and time for your child’s grade level.
The grade 5 senior trip will be on Tuesday June 18th.
Please make note of the dates for some special end of the year celebrations…
June 18th– Pre-K moving up ceremony and Grade 2 performance for parents
