The end of the school year is rapidly approaching. As this will be my final principal’s message, I would like to take the opportunity to thank all the teachers, parents, and students for an incredible year. I am honored to have been selected as PS 172’s principal and I am grateful for the opportunity to know and work alongside all of you. Thank you for a wonderful school year! I look forward to seeing you all again in September.
We have had an exceptionally busy week. Pre-k students had their moving up ceremony on Tuesday. On that same day, grade 5 students went to the Liberty Science Museum for their senior trip and second graders debuted their NYC show for parents. Earlier today, our fifth grade students graduated in a ceremony held at Sunset Park High School. Congratulations to all our fifth graders and their families and good luck to you all in middle school!
The grade 5 graduation party is scheduled for later on today (Friday 6/21) at 5:00pm. Special thanks to all the parents that worked so hard to transform our auditorium into a luau paradise.
Great News! New York State Assembly Assistant Speaker, Mr. Felix Ortiz, was a featured guest at our grade 5 graduation. Mr. Ortiz graciously presented a $50,000 check to PS 172 to help support our music, dance and theater programs for next year.

On behalf of the entire PS 172 community, I would like to offer a special thanks to our PTA President, Mrs. Alexa Aviles for her 10 years of service to our school. Mrs. Aviles has brought so much joy and enthusiasm to our PTA and has arranged hundreds of events and activities to support the entire PS 172 community. We will miss you!
