At our PTA meeting this week, a parent approached me about the possibility of the school adopting a uniform. In order to get a sense of what other parents think of the idea, I am providing a link to an online survey that will help me gauge whether or not this is something we may pursue. Please take a moment to answer this single question. I will report on results in next week’s notes. https://www.surveymonkey.com/
A special thanks to the parents that were able to come out for our first PTA meeting of the school year on Tuesday evening. Mrs. Garcia discussed our “Respect for All” policy and spoke about bullying and the work we are doing at the school to deal with any potential issues. I made a brief presentation about building safety and we walked through the different drills students and teachers practice throughout the year – specifically evacuation drills and lock downs.
Enrichment Club permission slips will be distributed next Wednesday 10/2. Please look for the slip in your child’s book bag and remember to sign and return it to school by Friday October 11th
It was great to see so many parents at our first “Parents as Learning Partners” event of the school year. We were also pleased to support parents needing assistance to log in to Pupil Path. It is important that all parents create an account as our report cards will be released online, through Pupil Path this year.
In grades 3-5, students continue to receive their keyboards and recorders. Students must present their signed “contract” before the instrument can be brought home.
Beginning today, some students will receive a “Request for Consent for Medicaid Reimbursement”, asking for you to agree to allow the NYC DOE access to your child’s special education records. Any student receiving speech services, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, ICT or SETTS will receive this letter. This letter does not mean you receive Medicaid nor does it mean you are signing up for Medicaid. Your agreement and signature on the form however, helps us receive additional funding for the services that are provided to your child. Please complete the form and return it to school with your child on Wednesday 10/2.
Picture Day is scheduled for next Thursday 10/3. Contact the PTA or call the school if you need a photo order form.
