Congratulations to our dedicated science teacher Ms. Powierski and all the excellent math teachers!
Parents, please join us tonight for the first PTA meeting of the year. The meeting starts at 6:30 pm and is held in the auditorium. There is childcare for your children in the gym.
PTA meetings are a great way to connect with other parents, learn about upcoming programs, and get involved with the school.
We hope to see you there!
With school in full swing, we know just how hard our teachers work for our children. The PTA would like to give a hearty thank you to our teachers for all the time, effort, talent, and countless hours they give to our kids. We would also like to mention the kind and generous community support in making this year's teacher's breakfast possible from local vendors, including:
- Express Coffee Shop on 5th Ave
- Tasty Deli and Restaurant on 4th Ave
- Dunkin' Donuts
Here's to another great year at P.S. 172!
P.S. 172 will once again be participating in the Box Tops for Education program to help raise money for our school. The process is simple: Look for Box Tops on hundreds of products, clip them, and send them in on the sheets that will be sent home with your child. Some of the products where you'll find Box Tops are Cheerios, Cascadian Farms cereal, Kleenex, Ziploc products, Yoplait, Hefty, and many more! For a complete list, check here
Students who bring in the most Box Tops can also earn prizes. We've had great participation in past years and we thank you in advance for helping us to raise even more funds for P.S. 172. Stay tuned for more information about sending in your Box Tops. Until then, start clipping!
P.S. 172 dads celebrated the statewide Dads Take Your Child to School Day despite a very rainy drop off! Mr. Spatola, the Principal, addressed dads and students at an assembly where children were photographed with their fathers. Participating dads received a certificate of appreciation and a coupon to Modell's.
Thanks to everyone who came out!
Calling all Dads! Tomorrow, Tuesday, September 16, join the statewide Dads Take Your Child to School event. Dads, uncles, brothers, step-dads, and other male caregivers are encouraged to have their picture taken with their kids and join an assembly in the schoolyard.
School will be open today 2/13/14 but tonight's performance of the Little Red Hen will be postponed due to the weather. Another date will be announced soon. Thank you.
On February 12th at 9:00 am, P.S. 172 will celebrate our 100th year
of educating Brooklyn's children. Our students and teachers have been hard at work studying what life was like in 1914. The auditorium will be transformed into a museum showcasing the projects completed by students at all grade levels. At the assembly, students will unveil a P.S. 172 time capsule, model fashions from the decades, and perform dances and music from 1914.
Following, on February 13th at 6:00 pm our students will perform "The Little Red Hen" set on a farm in Brooklyn 100 years ago.
We hope you can join us for the festivities to celebrate the ongoing achievements of P.S. 172 students!
