PTA

We are an enthusiastic, diverse and fun-loving group of caregivers, teachers, administration, and staff at PS172. Our mission is to build and support a school community that is connected, engaged, and equitable. We offer time, talent and support to the ongoing education, enrichment and social/emotional wellbeing of the P.S.172 community. We strive to cultivate community participation and engagement, and provide the funding and programs needed to sustain a rich learning environment for our students. We are a charitable nonprofit and 100% volunteer driven.

We welcome all current members of the PS172 family to join us! Whether you have 10 minutes, 1 hour, or a whole morning available, we have a volunteer opportunity for you.

  • Fundraising Committee - From raffles to event nights, strategize fundraising opportunities for the PTA
  • Fifth Grade Council - Help make our fifth graders’ final year at P.S. 172 a memorable one! Plan and produce graduation, the senior trip, and more
  • School Spirit Committee - Help design, produce, and distribute spiritwear for our school
  • Enrichment Committee - Find vendors, plan and organize club schedule, process registration, and more!
  • Book Fair Committee - Help plan and host our Scholastic Book Fair at the school

Upcoming PTA Events

The Big Spring Swap - 4/3 - 2:30-4:00pm - It's baaaaack! Donate your unwanted elementary school clothes, shoes, toys, and books--and take whatever you see that you like! Your giveaway is another person's treasure.

Please bring clean, undamaged donations to the front entrance of the school until Wed 4/2. No adult clothing or items, please. Make sure to mark donation bags with "PTA SWAP" and, if possible, fold and label the contents ("boys 6 year old clothing").

On the day of the swap, there will be a bake sale to support the PTA and PS172.

P.S.172 Dance-a-Thon - Friday 4/12 - 6-8pm - One of our most favorite nights of the year! Help us raise funds for our school and the PTA by dancing for TWO WHOLE HOURS! Sign up online, gather pledges from friends and family, and then rock out with all your friends at our AWESOME dance. We'll have a live DJ, fun games, glow sticks, free snacks and beverages and more. Sign up here. Minimum $20 pledge.
