Who is P.S. 172 Named After?
For generations, Annette Hendrickson was the heart of P.S. 172. Her lifelong dedication, leadership, and unwavering commitment to our students, families, and staff helped shape the culture and spirit that define our school today.
Mrs. Hendrickson's connection to P.S. 172 began as a student here. Years later, she proudly enrolled her four children here, becoming an active member of the Parent-Teacher Association and eventually serving as PTA President. After her children graduated, she continued her service by joining the school staff as a School Aide, later becoming Supervising School Aide, and ultimately serving as P.S. 172's first Parent Coordinator—a role she held with tremendous pride and dedication for more than twenty years.
Throughout every stage of her life, Mrs. Hendrickson was a steadfast advocate for children and families. She welcomed generations of students, supported parents through both celebrations and challenges, mentored staff, and helped create the warm, inclusive community that has long been the hallmark of P.S. 172. Her leadership, compassion, and tireless service left an enduring impact on everyone who walked through our doors.
Mrs. Hendrickson was more than a dedicated employee—she was a trusted leader, a mentor, a source of comfort, and a friend. Her warmth, wisdom, and unwavering belief in the potential of every child made her an irreplaceable part of our school community.
To honor her extraordinary legacy, we are proud to name our school The Annette Hendrickson Beacon School of Excellence. This name serves as a lasting tribute to a woman whose life was devoted to P.S. 172 and whose influence continues to inspire our community every day.
Her legacy will forever remain a part of our school, reminding future generations of the power of service, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to children.
